Altar candles are candles set on or near altars for religious ceremonies. Altar candles may be placed directly on the altar or in tall stands to the side of or behind the altar.
The Church prescribes that the candles used at Mass and at other liturgical functions be made of beeswax. Our Altar Brand 51% beeswax candles are made from beeswax, one of nature�s resources. For safety, altar candles are secured in some type of simple or elaborate candleholder. To prevent wax from dripping, candles are often topped by a candle follower, a short tube made of brass, glass, or other non-flammable material.
